"title": "Konqueror Web Shortcuts for CHEMINF",
"content_html": "<p>In 2004 I wrote up a short <a href=\"http://cdknews.org\">CDK News</a> <a href=\"http://www.steinbeck-molecular.de/cdknews/index.php/CDKNews/article/view/16\">article</a>\non how to set up <a href=\"http://www.konqueror.org/\">Konqueror</a> web shortcuts for the\n<a href=\"http://cdk.sf.net\">CDK</a> (Windows users can download Konqueror <a href=\"http://windows.kde.org/download.php\">here</a>).\nThey are very handy, and I just found another simple use case, and as I have\nnot seen it get much attention recently, and it is a great productivity tool,\nhere goes.</p>\n\n<p><a href=\"http://code.google.com/p/semanticchemistry/\">CHEMINF</a> is an ontology under\ndevelopment by people at the EBI, Canada and Sweden, for cheminformatics. I\nwas aggregation <a href=\"http://code.google.com/p/semanticchemistry/wiki/Examples\">examples</a>,\nand when you browse these, you immediately run into the problem that all OWL\nresources have rather cryptic names, like <a href=\"http://semanticscience.org/resource/CHEMINF_000000\">CHEMINF_000000</a>.\nOf course, any decent <a href=\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_Ontology_Language\">OWL</a>\ntool will just view the <em>rdfs:label</em>, but I and others prefer to work in plain\ntext editors, rather than, for example, <a href=\"http://protege.stanford.edu/\">Protege</a>.</p>\n\n<p>Fortunately, the Michel and/or Leonid have made the CHEMINF ontology <a href=\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linked_Data\">LinkedData</a>,\nwhich is where the web shortcuts come in. So, CHEMINF_000000 has the <a href=\"http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/URI\">URI</a>\n<a href=\"http://semanticscience.org/resource/CHEMINF_000000\">http://semanticscience.org/resource/CHEMINF_000000</a>.\nFor the RDF and ontology users, a web shortcut is just like defining a namespace\n(actually, a bit more general), so we will define <em>cheminf:CHEMINF_000000</em>.\nActually, let’s skip this step, and make use of web shortcuts fully, and define <em>cheminf:000000</em>.\nAfter all, a web shortcut is nothing more than an simple expansion.</p>\n\n<p>Open Konqueror’s <em>Settings</em> -&gt; <em>Configure Konqueror</em> dialog, and select that <em>Web\nShortcuts</em> page:</p>\n\n<p><img src=\"/assets/images/ws1.png\" alt=\"\" /></p>\n\n<p>Click new New button on the right:</p>\n\n<p><img src=\"/assets/images/ws3.png\" alt=\"\" /></p>\n\n<p>and fill out the dialog like this:</p>\n\n<p><img src=\"/assets/images/ws2.png\" alt=\"\" /></p>\n\n<p>Now, I can open the <em>cheminf:000000</em> URI in Konqueror and get the information\nabout a CHEMINF resource:</p>\n\n<p><img src=\"/assets/images/ws5.png\" alt=\"\" /></p>",
