"content_html": "<p>This weekend there was the really nice <a href=\"http://friendfeed.com/science-commons-sympo\">Science Commons Symposium</a>, which I\nvirtually attended, and there is an interesting discussion at <a href=\"http://friendfeed.com/jcbradley/18e76233/binfield-article-level-metrics-should-be\">FriendFeed on article level metrics</a>.</p>\n\n<p><img src=\"/assets/images/impact.png\" style=\"width: 30%; display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; float: right\" alt=\"Screenshot of section of a website (forgot one) showing several impact metrics, like citations and discussions.\" /></p>\n\n<p>Now, I just reported on the <a href=\"https://chem-bla-ics.linkedchemistry.info/2010/02/22/further-statistics-on-papers-citing-cdk.html\">CDK functionality used in published research <i class=\"fa-solid fa-recycle fa-xs\"></i></a>.\nLinking this to impact, the CDK with 115 citations now (both papers, <a href=\"http://chem-bla-ics.blogspot.com/2006/11/when-is-open-source-chemoinformatics.html\">nice increase from 2006</a>)\nis not doing bad. But the real impact goes further than the direct citations. The <a href=\"http://www.brenda-enzymes.org/\">BRENDA enzyme database</a>\nis one of the project where CDK functionality is (was?) used, and the matching papers (doi:<a href=\"https://doi.org/10.1093/nar/gkh081\">10.1093/nar/gkh081</a>\nand pmid:<a href=\"http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?Db=pubmed&amp;Cmd=ShowDetailView&amp;TermToSearch=11752250\">11752250</a>) have\nbeen cited 241 times. Surely, BRENDA does very much more than just the used CDK functionality.</p>\n\n<p>But, in my opinion it does something about the impact of the CDK too. What do you think? Should these counts be included in the article level metrics too? I am almost tempted to even pose that those counts are more interesting that the number of blog replies…</p>\n\n\n<h4>References</h4>\n<div class=\"csl-bib-body\">\n <div class=\"csl-entry\">Schomburg, I.
